FAQs

What is Olympic Weightlifting?

Quite simply, it’s the style of weightlifting you will see at the Olympics. There are two lifts, the Snatch and the Clean & Jerk. In a competition you will have 3 attempts at each lift. Your best two lifts will be added together for your total.

Why Olympic Weightlifting?

There is more to Olympic Weightlifting than competing. Although if your goal is to compete this is a great goal to have. Weightlifting is a combination of technique, mobility, strength and power and quite frankly all the things that will set you up for life outside of the gym!

Are beginners welcome?

Absolutely! We will start with no weight to learn the technique and get you onto a training bar where you can progress from there.

I want to compete, can you help me with this?

Yes! This is a great goal to work towards, and I can certainly get you on the British Weightlifting competition platform. Having a coach with you at a comp is a must!

Can you help crossfitters?

Often crossfitters come to me for a 1-1 session to brush up on technique outside of a class environment. Or possibly even transfer over to Olympic Weightlifting.

Can weightlifting get me better at my sport?

It certainly can! Strength, power and speed will set you up well for any sport. You will see professional athletes using olympic weightlifting to get better at their sport.
